Glastonbury Festival has announced THE CONGOS, DAVID RODIGAN and NAS among the initial artists confirmed for the reborn Dance Village later this year.



TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS, MUSICAL YOUTH and MAD PROFESSOR are among the latest additions for Camp Bestival later this summer.


DAVID RODIGAN moves over to BBC Radio 1Xtra

British reggae DJ DAVID RODIGAN MBE will join BBC Radio 1Xtra to host a brand new radio show from 17 February

RODIGAN said on Twitter:

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining BBC @1Xtra focusing on new cutting edge reggae and classic cuts every Sunday from 7-9pm.”


ROOTIKAL night announced with DAVID RODIGAN

The next ROOTIKAL night in London, forming part of East Village’s fifth birthday celebrations, will feature headliner DAVID “RAM JAM” RODIGAN.


One Love 2013 line-up announced: CONGO NATTY, IJAHMAN LEVI & SISTER NANCY

The UK’s top reggae and dub event, the One Love Festival, has revealed the first acts to play their 2013 edition featuring CONGO NATTY, IJAHMAN LEVI and SISTER NANCY.

The festival takes place on 16-18 August 2013 at a new 122 acre site just 20 minutes from central London - Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster Essex.


DAVID RODIGAN walks away from Kiss over reggae marginalisation

British radio DJ and Jamaican music expert DAVID RODIGAN has resigned from Kiss FM over the “marginalisation” of reggae music in the schedule.

RODIGAN, who has worked at the radio station since 1990, was recently moved to a midnight slot to accommodate a show hosted by Craig David.


Digital Soundboy reveals Notting Hill Carnival line-up

Digital Soundboy has announced its full line-up for the Notting Hill Carnival later this month.

The DSB Soundsystem stage, in association with Soul Village and Sir Lloyd, returns to carnival on 27 August from 12pm until 7pm.

The stage will be on the corner of Tavistock Road/Leamington Road Villas (outside number 54), which is a one-minute walk from Westbourne Park Tube station.


Rhythm Festivals scrapped: 'glitches and domino effect' blamed

The UK’s Rhythm Festivals 2012 has been cancelled after a whole series of glitches and the domino effect put a stop to the show going ahead.

The three-pronged festival was due to be held over the August bank holiday weekend (24-26 August) at Mansion House near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire.

Rhythm Festivals was set to offer a line-up of Rhythm Folk, Rhythm Blues, and Rhythm Roots plus comedy and fringe events.


Fashion Records partners up with Reggae Archive Records

Bristol Archive Records sister imprint Reggae Archive Records has agreed a partnership deal with Fashion Records to re-release their back catalogue on CD and vinyl.

The deal follows an announcement in March that the London reggae label would put out the back catalogue in digital format.


UK festival update: reggae-heavy Strummer of Love + JIMMY CLIFF heads up WOMAD

The UK festival circuit is heating up with news that a number of top reggae acts have been added to the Strummer of Love festival in Somerset. JIMMY CLIFF has also added WOMAD to his collection of festival appearances this summer.

British reggae DJ DAVID RODIGAN (MBE) has announced three headline ‘Ram Jam’ shows in London, Bristol and Cambridge featuring MS DYNAMITE, BITTY MCLEAN and GENERAL LEVY, among many others.

Other top artists set to perform over the three nights include THE HEATWAVE, TODDLA T, IRATION STEPPAS and CASPA.

UK-based reggae record label Fashion Records has announced the first set of digital releases from its back catalogue.

DAVID RODIGAN collects MBE; Second BBC Radio 2 summer series confirmed

Kiss FM radio DJ DAVID RODIGAN was at Buckingham Palace this week to collect the UK's fifth highest award – becoming a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).

As announced in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list, Prince Charles presented RODIGAN with the award for services to music on 14 February.

RODIGAN’s radio show airs every Sunday night at 11pm on London's Kiss FM.

Camp Bestival has announced the initial acts for this summer's festival, including top reggae artists JIMMY CLIFF, DUB PISTOLS, PRINCE FATTY and DAVID RODIGAN.

There will also be a 'Saturday Night Fever' evening with top US funk acts KOOL & THE GANG, CHIC featuring NILE RODGERS and EARTH, WIND & FIRE EXPERIENCE feat AL MCKAY.


Reggae DJ DAVID RODIGAN gets New Year honour

Long-standing British DJ DAVID RODIGAN has been appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen's New Year Honours list for "services to broadcasting".

Since the 1970s the Kiss 100 DJ has been introducing generations of British fans to the latest sounds from Jamaica.

Over summer 2011 Rodigan hosted a series of 10, hour long, reggae shows on BBC Radio 2.

The final instalment of DAVID RODIGAN’s reggae show on BBC Radio 2 has aired and is now available to download.
