Reggae stars descend on the UK

International reggae artists SHAGGY, SEAN PAUL, GYPTIAN, THE ABYSSINIANS and ETANA have hit UK soil ahead of the One Love Peace Festival at Wembley Arena tomorrow.

SHAGGY was on ITV breakfast show Daybreak this week to talk about his performance at the event. You can check it out here.

Other artists on the bill include BUSTA RYHMES, ASWAD, JOHN HOLT, HORACE ANDY and reggae reggae sauce entrepreneur LEVI ROOTS. The full line-up and running order can be viewed on the One Love Peace Festival website.

BOB MARLEY’s song “One Love” originally gave birth to the One Love Peace Concert in Jamaica back in 1978 that in turn struck a chord with the founder members of the UK One Love Peace Festival.

A series of events were staged in the UK in the late 80s and early 90s to reignite the flames.

The last event was held at the Linford Christie Stadium in 1991 with a line-up of THE WAILERS, GREGORY ISAACS, FREDDIE MCGREGOR and BARRINGTON LEVY.

According to the OLPF website, the festival has “engendered change by its stance against the glorification of gun culture and derogatory sexist lyrics of some DJs, which defames the beautiful art-form of Reggae music.”
