MARLON JAMES selects Guardian playlist

Jamaican novelist MARLON JAMES has selected five songs - from WAYNE SMITH, GENERAL ECHO, SUPER CAT, BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS and SHABBA RANKS - to soundtrack his new book.

The special edition of The Guardian’s playlist focuses on his latest book: A Brief History of Seven Killings.

The novel starts with the 1976 attempt on BOB MARLEY’s life and moves onto the US in the 1990s.
