New MR VEGAS album out this month: Pre-order now

Jamaican dancehall star MR VEGAS will later this month drop a brand new album, called Euphoria, on his MV Music label.

The new 15-track record is available to pre-order now on iTunes and will be officially released on 23 September.

Picking up from his 2012 Sweet Jamaica album, Euphoria is another reggae-heavy offering with occasional diversions into dancehall and R&B territory.

The album is produced by Danny Browne and Clevand Browne [formerly of production duo Steely and Clevie fame], and fans can expect a more vocal MR VEGAS record rather than the distinct deejaying style he’s perhaps better known for.

Atmospheric opening track “Mr Shotta” kicks things off to a powerful start. The song is on the Angel Daze Riddim produced by Angel Camorra and will be released soon by Angelick Music, a new UK-based label.

“Plastic Dolly” follows a few tracks later and appeals to supporters of natural beauty, while latest single “My Jam” is likely to be a big international hit with its infectious retro beat.

Collaborations on the new record include one with JOVI ROCKWELL called “Once Upon A Time (I Was Lonely)”, “Luv Song” featuring KRYSTAL LAREIGN, “Who Rule” featuring LATTY J, and an ALTON ELLIS-penned tune with SHERITA called “Girl I've Got a Date”.

One of the stand-out tracks on the album for me was his version of “Hallelujah”, a rousing rendition of LEONARD COHEN’s 1984 much-covered song.

Overall this is another strong effort from MR VEGAS maintaining an authentic Jamaican sound throughout.

Hopefully fans will get the chance to experience these tracks live if the much-anticipated tour makes it round to the UK in the months ahead.
