Chelsea player MALOUDA launches reggae festival

Chelsea and France footballer FLORENT MALOUDA is in the process of organising a reggae festival in French Guiana.

Malouda told BBC Radio 5 Live that he is "a big music fan" and has been heavily involved in launching the One Love festival, which is the largest event of its type in the country.

He explained that last time the festival took place in 2009 it included Haitian music and hip hop - such as WYCLEF JEAN, BERES HAMMOND, LUCIANO and JAH CURE - but that this year it will be focused on "drums, with reggae, Caribbean drums.”

The 2011 festival line-up includes SHAGGY, TARRUS RILEY, BARRINGTON LEVY and QUEEN IFRICA among many others.

It is also set to feature the drum group that played with MICHAEL JACKSON on the “They Don’t Care About Us” track.

The One Love Festival will be held on 17-18 June at the Stade de Baduel, French Guiana.

The Chelsea left winger’s appreciation of reggae music does not come as a surprise, after having visited JAH CURE in prison in Kingston in 2007.
