MAVADO trial postponed until February; plus ‘hit’ taken out on the artist

Jamaican dancehall artist MAVADO, real name David Brooks, will be back in court on 12 February on a charge of “assault occasioning bodily harm”.

The confirmation of the new date came up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on 27 September.

As reported by Go Jamaica Brooks is accused of attacking a policeman at a nightclub in New Kingston.

An arrest warrant was issued but stayed as the singer was overseas and unable to return for trial.

The Jamaica Star reported on 28 September that Brooks was back on Jamaican soil and that there was a “hit” out on him, i.e. his life could be in danger.

Sources told The Star that the bullet which led to the death of his friend Connie at a nightclub last year was meant for Brooks.

MAVADO made his return to the Jamaican stage last week at the Arthur Guinness Concert in the National Indoor Sports Centre.
